The Secret Garden is a seasonal gallery of art and handcrafts from Michigan and the US. Located in a nineteenth-century storefront in Empire's financial district (i.e. next to the bank), The Secret Garden opened in 1988. It's owned by Bruce and Cynthia Taggart, who spend their off-seasons teaching music at Michigan State University.
The Secret Garden features pottery and glass,		outerware,
	wall art,
		accessories,
kitchen ware,	glass, fabric, metal, wood, and porcelain ornaments,
		fun stuff for your children and you.
HOURS During the summer season (Memorial Day-Labor Day), we are open daily, 10 AM to 8 PM (Mon-Sat), and 10 to 5PM on Sunday. In the fall and through December, we are open daily, 10 AM to 5 PM. In January, we are open Fri-Mon, 10-5. We are closed in February, March, and April. We open again in May, with daily hours, 10-5. We are located in downtown Empire, straight west from Traverse City on M-72 (which turns into Front St.) Click here for maps of northwest lower Michigan and Empire.
